Patricks ENT Appoitment today..
So, I took Patrick to the ENT (ear, nose & throat Doctor) today. He saw that Patrick had wax in his ears & removed it. The wax was disgusting & huge. How Patricks pediatricians didn't notice that until last Friday I have no clue. He said that there is fluid in both his ears. He wanted to Patrick to take a hearing test. But, after the painfull ordeal to get the wax out Patrick was not having it. The end result is that he believe it could be sinus's but, Patrick has to have a CAT scan to be sure. (just shoot me now!!) he will probably have the CAT scan next week. They will do it at the hospital & give him something to sedate him a bit so he doesn't freak out while the CAT scan is going on. Then they will reccomend 21-28 days of antibiotics. If that doesn't clear up he might have to have tubes in his ears & while they are in there take out his adnoids. So, let the prayers begin that this will be all cleared up after the month of antibiotics!

Awe poor Patrick! I hope the antibiotics help his ears to clear up on their own and you won't have to worry about anything else!

Re: Patricks ENT Appoitment today..
awww...my brother almost had to have tubes in his ears when he was about Patrick's age. He actually lost 75% hearing in one of his ears because of ear infections. Well, finally, his ears drained themselves.
Also, the tubes are not so uncommon any more. I hear of more and more kids getting it.

Awww, I hope the antibiotics work. When I was little I had to have the tubes in my ears and my adnoids taken out.

This big kick in the arse is that he hasn't had ear infections! So I'm hoping they will clear themselves!

Re: Patricks ENT Appoitment today..
I hope Patrick gets better soon.
Kevin had a sedation CAT_Scan in January. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Expect Patrick to cry a bit when they start the sedation medication. The doctor told me it burns when it goes in and that why children cry.
Also try to get an early appt. as they cannot eat or drink before the sedation.
Good Luck!

Re: Patricks ENT Appoitment today..
Damien has tubes and will have his adenoids out when he turns 3. I hope that Patrick's ears clear up on their own but if he needs tubes it will be fine. (I won't tell you it isn't a big deal because anytime you have to have your baby put under anesthesia it is a very big deal!)
If you have any questions feel free to ask

Re: Patricks ENT Appoitment today..
I know this sounds out there but the same thing happened to me when I was younger and the doctor recommended having me blow up ballons, as crazy as it sounds it worked and I didnt get tubes put in.
I have also heard chewing gum helps as well.
