Maybe a silly vanity question
Does anybody know if it is okay to go tanning if you are BFing? It may sound like a strange question, but I just don't want the lamps to "dry up" my milk, or for the "radiation" to be harmful to my milk.
Does anybody know if this is even an issue? I would like to go so I won't look so sickly for Marron's baptism in 2 weeks.

Re: Maybe a silly vanity question
I've never heard of anything. BTW, we all want to look good.
Just found this at La Leche League's Website
Is it safe to use a tanning bed? Will it affect my milk? The BREASTFEEDING ANSWER BOOK, 3rd revised edition, published by La Leche League International, states on page 449, "No evidence exists that the nursing mother's use of tanning beds has any effect on her breastfed baby."
It is important to limit exposure so that burning is avoided. Some mothers have reported getting burnt nipples and breasts when using tanning beds. This is extremely painful so be sure to cover your nipples and breasts and use caution. If any vitamins or medications are suggested to enhance the tanning, be sure to check with your health care provider before taking them.

My ob and ped advised against it since the uvay rays woul be too close to my breasts. How about self tanning instead? It is quicker, safer, and easy to maintain.
