Went to doctor for 28wk check-up

Well, actually they have me calculated as 27 weeks and 5 days. Well, the baby is measuring 30 weeks and 2 days! Chat Icon

They say that it already weighs 3 lbs, 6 oz!! I still have 12 weeks to go. My goodness gracious -- how big will it be by then???

Also, they said it is already head down, and the sono tech had to keep moving the wand further and further down in order to get a pic of the top of the baby's head. Does that mean it has ALREADY gone into the birth canal???

Is this normal, or should I start preparing to go early? I don't think it will be too early, but I'm wondering if since the baby is measuring 2 weeks further along than my EDD, is it likely that it will come 2 weeks early?

I don't know about how it will affect your due date, but I can tell you that they move up and down the birth canal in preparation for birth. At my 37 week appt I was at zero station, and then the next week she'd moved back up and was +2 (or is it -2? I can never remember which is back up the canal)

And the weights are an estimate, but anyone I know said it was really off. My girlfriend was told at her 40 week that the baby was measuring around 8lbs, he was born a week later over 10lbs! Another girl I knew from work was told it would be a "big" baby and was born under 7 lbs right around her due date.

HTH!
