Depends on how close. I usually spend $60 on a good friend.....but if I see something the person will love, I go for it, reasonably so.

it used to be 50 then 75 but last year i got promised a day to the spa that never happened then this year it was $25 gc so ill be downgrading this year as well

I only really exchange with one or two of my friends, usually the max is $50.
ETA: Unless I see something that she'd really like/want, then it's higher of course.

depends on the friend... but my best friends bday was last week-we went out to dinner and dancing-and I got her a GC for a mani and pedi, plus something for baking she wanted and a bottle of apple martini mix-her fav.
