hospital bag
Did anyone bring a new outfit to go home in? I was just going to wear what I go to the hospital in since it is a c-section. I will only have this outfit on until I go to the hospital and then off it goes to the beautiful gown I will wear.
This is what I packed 3 pair of PJ bottems with matching tops 6 pair of undies - may need extra socks toiletrees (sp)) basic stuff needed - all travel size stuff take home outfit for the baby robe slippers flip flops for shower camera phone card I figure at nigt I will wear the hosptial gowns for sleeping and then change during the day.
Did I forget anything . Yes I will bring snacks and magazines too

Re: hospital bag
Sounds good to me. I am glad I saw your post because I forgot to pack socks! I think it is perfectly fine that you are going home in the outfit you arrived in. No one is going to notice and you are just going home!

Re: hospital bag
i had two csections and heres a good tip. dont wear pjs, wear a nightgown instead, the waist on the j pjs will rub up against your incision. a nightgown is so much more comfortable. and as for the going home outfit. i wore a maternity dress. so comfortable, and again it didnt rub up against the incision.

Re: hospital bag
Try to get socks with the rubber skids on the bottom. When you are trying to get out of bed, you will be a bit unsteady, and those hospital floors can be slippery with just socks on. The last thing you want is to fall after having a c-section. Also, don't forget phone numbers of people for DH to call.

Re: hospital bag
You might also want to bring your own pillow. The ones in the hospital are often really flat and hard.

Re: hospital bag
Second vote here for no pj bottoms... it rubs uncomfortably against the incision and the nurses will be coming in every hour to check you and the last thing you want to do is to keep pulling the pants on and off again. I ended up wearing the hospital gown the whole time because even though you have a c-section you'll still be bleeding a whole lot so it's just more convenient.
Also, you might want to bring your own pads - the ones provided by the hospital were way too big for me. And if you plan on BFing you'll need breastpads, lanolin and your boppy

Re: hospital bag
sounds great...I packed PJS too but didn't wear them until after I took a shower the next day. I was so exhausted that I just kept the hospital gown on. I did not bother with flip flops for the shower-I had a private room and I figured it's a hospital....it has to be cleaned after every patient.
Didn't bother with my own undies either...I was bleeding so much that I did not want to ruin them (as ugly as they are)
