Need some travel help...
I want to go away for my hubbies 30th birthday on January 1st but it is right after New Years and prices are always jacked up. Any ideas on where to go local or not? I know that is a pretty broad question but I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks!

Re: Need some travel help...
Actually I have always found that prices usually drop sharply after 1/1 ... so maybe one night might be more expensive than the others ...

Check out Montauk. I am sure you could get a great deal at Gurney's although there probably isn't a lot to do!!

Re: Need some travel help...
Thanks so much ladies! I will reply all at once. Forgot to come back to check on my thread
I am going to VT at the end of the month. We are staying at the Equinox (Thanks Lori ) so I want to do something different for our birthdays.
Mohonk is definitely a possibility. Short drive and heard it is great there.
After I was trapped in Mexico during the hurricane I don't think I can take a cruise and be on a boat in the middle of the ocean. Gotta get over that fear!
I want to go away for 3 or 4 days nothing too long. The weather doesn't matter can be hot or cold.
Thanks peabody I will subscribe to Travel Zoo!
I am thinking maybe Vegas. Have been there twice and I love it there. I bet New Year's Eve there is awesome. But the prices I am sure are crazy. Thanks again ladies!

Re: Need some travel help...
check expedia.com or other sites like it. you may be able to get a good deal on a Caribbean trip for 3-4 days. January is not hurricane season, so you don't have to worry about that

Re: Need some travel help...
A few years ago, DH and I went to Puerto Rico for about 4 days in January. We got a good deal, the weather was great, and it was a perfect amount of time to spend there. I'd check the travel websites for deals on airfare and hotels. That may help you decide where to go.
