Work - did you go back and decide to leave?

did anyone have their baby and go back because you needed to financially.....but then just couldn't do it.......and did you leave or go find another job which was part-time?

just curious - I'm working full-time now and my daughter is 3 months - it's just hard Chat Icon

I certainly did!Chat Icon Unfortunatelly, I couldn't act on my decision because we wouldn't survive without my salary!Chat Icon So here I am still!

However, a women in my office had twins in December, came back in March, and left for a part time job in 3 weeks.

Kari, Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon 's to you.

You have to do what is best for your family. I am working part time now and may have to bump it up from two days a week to three.
Here is what we did:
I took a job that I knew I could do part time before I got preggo (I am VERY thankful that I was able to do this and realize not everyone can) because I knew I would want to work part time after the baby was here. We bought a house an hour and a half from LI and it is a fixer upper. We fixed the inside to the point where it was "livable" but I would love to redo my kitchen and bathrooms. Chat Icon
DH and I have cut back on a bunch of expenses (i.e.: the outside of my house still needs to be renovated, DH & I drive a used cars that we paid for cash, and we basically cut out a lot of "extras") I won't lie, it is difficult, but we are managing to do it. If you really want to work part time, ask yourself "what can I really do without for a while???" That is what we did. Do I want new cars, vacations and nice stuff SURE, who doesn't??? DH & I decided that since I wanted to work part time and we would be cutting out a good chunk of my income, some other stuff had to be put on hold until I went back full time or DH got a raise, etc. I know I will one day we will have all the nice stuff Chat Icon , it is just on hold for now.

It's been very hard at times but no, I've stuck it out and continued to work full-time. I could've done a job share but they would've only given me mornings M-F so daycare would've still been an issue. And I don't want to leave my job because I really like it here.

I also could've taken up to 2 years off without pay but we couldn't afford it. It just comes down to finances for us and knowing that if we were struggling financially and not able to give Jake everything he needed (including parents that weren't constantly fighting over money) it would've made us miserable and that would not be good for him either.

Some days I still dream about asking for part time though. Chat Icon

i am back and my little one will be 5 months on Sat.. I have been here since she was 3months and it kills me.. In about 33 working days i will attempt to be a stay at home mom.. If we can't afford it then i will find something else but, it is really each individual family who makes the choices..

I did...I went back to NYC full time and then resigned...and I start my new job on MOnday - it is also full time, but I'm back on Long Island and working in the town I live in. It was a huge paycut but IMO worth it because I get to spend 15 hours more a week with my DD.
