Do you know if it is hard to install? Or should I set up an appt for it to be installed?

Thanks in advance!

If you don't want any wires showing I would pay to get it installed. That is what the guy in best buy told me when i asked about it.

I paid for the installation. I'm too retarded to try to do it on my own and my poor hubbie just doesn't have the time or patience lol

Re: For people that own Sirius Radio

I just got Sirius for my DH for Christmas and we paid to have it installed at Best Buy....it took ALL DAY!!!! He dropped off the car in the AM and it wasn't ready until 10:0 0PM. It was worth it though!

Re: For people that own Sirius Radio

See it stinks cause we are driving down to Florida this weekend, I didn't think that it would be a PITA to install. Oh well, guess we will have to listen to the CD's on the way down. Chat Icon

Re: For people that own Sirius Radio

We did it ourselves.
it was pretty easy
for the car it's a temporary installation (we have same one you did)- we didn't want it perm in the car.

you can listen to it on the way down.

just install temporarily -you suction the holder to the windshield and put the antenna out the window.
Then you plug the thng to the AC adapter and it transmits through your radio.

I didn't know there was a temporary way and a permanent way. For it to transmit through your radio does it need to be a certain station?
Sorry for all of the questions, I don't want to open the box and go through it, I would rather DH do that since it was his gift. I figured if I could give him so pointers, it would be before for him.

OK- you see that picture you posted?

The round thing is a magnetic antenae- you put that on the roof of the car through your window- it's a VERY strong magnet.

Then- you see that holder thing? That has the suction cup- you put that on your windshield- in back of that is where you plug in the male end of the A/C adapter- which you see pictured above- then you plug the other end into the adaptor.

Then you plug in your faceplate (you have the sportster, right?)

You turn on your radio to manual and find a station (usually 88 or so) that has nothing on it but very light static- you then go to sportster and:

hit menu- then select FM Frequency

Just scroll until you get to the same frequency that's on radio- for example 88.7- select that- and then your Sirius will automatically be transmitted to that frequency and you can listen.

the only thing you use your radio for is volume- you change channels on the sirius...

Besides having some wires around it works pretty good.

Re: For people that own Sirius Radio

DH got the Sportstre model , and it took him literally under 2 minutes to install??? It just plugged in and then plugged to the radio, antennea on roof. Im not sure why it would be hard unless different models are more work?
