Change of address

Who do i need to contact to change my address?

I already changed my credit card, cellphone, car insurance, and contacted the USPS.

I know I gotta change our car payments, and liscence.....but what else???

Do I need to contact Social Security? Change the registration on the cars too right???

Thanks

Re: Change of address

the post office has change of address stuff and that changes it with the IRS ( I think).

You should also change your drivers license (title, car insurance), credit cards, health insurance (medical, dental, vision, life), professional licenses, financial (bank, mortgage, mutualfund/stock), magazine subscriptions

Re: Change of address

Scott - the ones I forgot to notify were charitable organizations and volunteer organizations that I wanted to stay in contact with, and professional organizations that I belong to that I don't correspond with very often.

Re: Change of address

Re-register to vote, we tried to do it when we changed our licenses but it didn't go through.

We had to change directly with the county board of elections.

Re: Change of address

Oh another tip!!!!!

I read this in an article about protecting your identity.

Do a TEMPORARY change of address for 1 year with the post office. When you do this they do not give your address out, like they do when it's permanent. A year is plenty of time to make sure everything is changed.

Re: Change of address

Your 2006 tax return may be sent to the old address. Simply put the new address on the tax form and you'll be all set. The IRS address updates Social Security.
