Questiion about dieting and TTC

Hello Ladies...I am going to actively start TTC and wanted to start losing some weight now before I get pregnant. I will be starting the gym tonight...going to do some cardio and light weights. And was thinking of starting slim fast....I had lost weight a couple of years ago on slim fast so I know if I stick to it..it will work for me. I tried weight watchers but not good with the counting points and I dislike the frozen food.

Do you think its ok to do slimfast...I would try to eat healthier except I am a very picky eater...don't like veggies, don't eat fish/tuna, ect.

Any suggestions would be taken GLADLY!!!!!!!

I'm 5'4 and currently 170pds...want to lose 25 pds.....I am crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yuck- Slimfast. NOT a healthy way to start. It requires you to completely skip meals and replace them with shakes that are loaded with calories (what they call "energy"). This may provide a quick fix for you to lose weight, but is in no way teaching you how to maintain a proper diet.

Why not try some of the proven life style changes that teach you about proper portion control and nutrition, such as Body for Life, South Beach, or Weight Watchers? Even though you stated you tried it, did you really incorporate it into your life? I had huge success with them. I lost 25 pounds and have a new outlook on what I put into my body. I have NEVER bought any of their foods (YUCK- and $$$$). The plan is so easy to use with "real food". Also, I think with their Core plan, there is no point-counting.

Whatever you try, definitely exercise- I know that was the main component that drove my weight loss.

Good luck to you!

I am currently on the fat smash diet by Ian Smith. The first nine days is a detox and I lost 7 pounds - it was hard, but not impossible. I just found out that I'm pregnant and I dont have to change the diet. It's not so much a diet but a lifestyle - no sugars, no junk - fewer "bad" carbs, more "good" carbs, etc.

If you already joined, there should be no fee for registration. They now just started an option of paying a monthly fee, so it comes out to like 9 dollars a meeting. I really do love the WW plan, please feel free to FM me if you have any questions or need some motivation!

If you are TTC, I wouldn't do anything that strays from healthy eating patterns it could screw up you metabolism and make it difficult to conceive.
