So many of the mommies take great pictures on here can you share your tips..
I try and am getting better but for alot of them come out blurry because he moves alot and even the good ones dont seem to come out that clear. I have the Canon Power Shot SD550 and it does have a Kids and Pet setting for movement but the flash seems to be different on that one and I think their is more of a delay when I take a picture. Any tips would be great.

A while ago Nrthshgrl posted a bunch of tips, let me see if I can find the thread for you.
As for the blur, the more light you have, the faster the shutter speed will be and will take care of the motion blur. So try to take pics near a window during the day with bright light - that way you don't even need the flash.

I downloaded the program Picasa from Google to make my pictures look even better. There are so many things you can do to make them pretty. It's free too!!

Stefanie -- I meant to ask you about that last night.
Can you resize photos on it?
I have microsoft digital imager on my computer but the trial ran out and the resizer is what I used the most.....I haven't really gotten into many other features --- I'm thinking about DLing Picassa....

I say always use natural light and turn your flash off. Make sure your baby is extra beautiful (but we all have that covered don't we girls) and take LOTS of pictures, the more you take, the liklier you are to take a few great shots.

yes -- the 2 main things I've learned from Barbara (not like I take good photos or anything)
are to: 1. use natural light as much as possible 2. take berzillions of photos because you are sure to get a good one somewhere in there.
that's the good thing about digital. you can shoot 200 photos and only keep the few that you like best.

After I fool around with the pictures on Picasa (making them sepia, black and white, etc..) I e-mail them to myself and save them in my photos folder. Then I put them right on LIF...no resizing needed!!

I also wanted to say that if you have a good camera, it makes taking good pictures really easy. I have a Digital SLR and it just makes the whole picture taking process so easy. But at the same time, if you are experienced with SLR's, you can fiddle around with it as much as you want...

I have a Cannon Powershot too, but most of my "good" pictures are taken with my digital SLR. I avoid using the flash, but with the powershot they often come out blurry if you don't use the flash. You really have to be in as much natural light as possible. One tip I have found that helps is if you need to use the flash try to move as far away from the baby as you can and use the zoom on the camera so that the baby doesn't get "washed out" and you don't get that wide eyed stunned look from the flash going off right in their face.

I do the same thing
And I too try to use natural light as much as possible. It makes for a much more flattering picture. Also try zooming in, and don't worry about getting the whole subject in the picture. It looks a little nicer if you crop a little (I think Barbara said this in her tips).
I took this by the sliding glass door (I was playing around with my new macro filters): Image Attachment(s):
