Teachers Question
My sister had a demo lesson last week and tomorrow she is set to meet with the superintendent in a school in Nassau County. What do you make of this? Is it a formality or a "next step?" The reason I asked is that when I got my teaching job, the interview with the superintendent was a formality - by the time I got to that point they already knew they wanted me for the job. What have your experiences been? What questions will they ask her (it's been five years since I've been on an interview so I am rusty).
TIA!

Re: Teachers Question
I am in a program with a couple assistant superintendents for personnel in Nassau, and they say normally the top 3 or 4 candidates meet with either the asst. super for personnel or the super. if he is avail.

Re: Teachers Question
It depends. The above poster is correct. If you make it to the superintendent you are definitely a finalist. He or she very rarely sees more than 4 people... many times (if the district is small) they might only see two candidates.
When I interviewed and got my job my district left it largely to the dept. heads of the high school. The administration felt that it's the dept. heads who can best judge their needs and the right match for a candidate. I was recommended to the supt. and one "kid" (I saw the other candidate... seriously he looked like he was twelve ) was the other candidate. The chairperson always knew I'd get the job but I guess they still have to recommend multiple candidates.
Good luck to her!

Re: Teachers Question
When I met with my superintendent there were 5 of us and he asked us what we could bring to the district and so on. I dont remember the details, but then he welcomed us all to the district. It was basically a formality I guess. I hope she gets it! Good luck to her!

Re: Teachers Question
I interviewed last summer and had multiple interviews in the superintendent's office - so I wouldn't assume it is just a formality. (Actually people told me it was and I left there sooo disappointed the first time when I didn't get an offer). Depending on the district, she could me meeting with a variety of assistant superintendents before she even gets to the superintendent.
Good luck to her!!
