2006 Reading List

I thought we can post what we have and are currenlty reading in 06.We can edit our post as the year goes by. This way when someone is stumped on what to read, they can look at this thread and either start a new thread asking a question about the particular book or FM the person who read it.

The post will have the
Title of book
Author of book
Type of story (non fic, fic, etc)
1 -3 sentence summary of book
would you recommend?If not, why not?

What do you ladies think?

Title= Marley and Me (memoir-with-dog)
Author= John Grogan
Summary= THe heartworming and unforgettable story of a family in the making and the wondrous neurotic dog who taught them what really matters in life. Grogan's chronicle of the adventures parents and children (eventually three) enjoyed with the overly energetic but endearing dog
Recommend?= Definitely. You'll laugh out loud and cry all in one book

Re: 2006 Reading List

Good Idea, I'll have to just start now though. I'll backtrack to as many as I can remember.

Marley and Me - John Grogan - Memoir - See Jessica's post - Highly recommend

Keeping Faith - Jodi Picoult - Fiction - A mother's fight to keep custody of her daughter who is seeing God and performing miracles - Highly Recommend, one of her best. - Recommend

My Sister's Keeper - Jodi Picoult - Fiction - A sister fights for medical emancipation while her older sister is dying of leukemia - Wonderful Read, but I didn't like it as much as her others. - Recommend

Until I Find You - John Irving - Fiction - Story of a man who is trying to come to terms with his father's abandonment before he was born - If you know Irving, you know the kind of stories he writes. Very unusual and bizarre, but an interesting story nonetheless. - Only if you like Irving do I recommend

DaVinci Code - Dan Brown - Fiction - A prominent man in the art world is killed and the mystery of who did it and why. Lot's of info on the history of the Church and some of It's opponents and sects. - Very interesting book, totally an edge of your seat type of book. I actually loved this book a lot more than I expected and can't wait for the movie now. I am also onto Angel's and Demon's very soon! - Highly recommend

Night - Elie Weisel - NonFiction - The memoir of a man who spent almost a year in Nazi concentration camps when he was 15. - The images in this book are horrible, but I think necessary. It is definitely a must read if only for the impact of reminding us what that world was like so it may never happen again. - Highly Recommend
