What are you doing after baby arrives?
Will you be going back to work, take a leave or be a SAHM?
If you are going back to work who will watch the baby?

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
The plan as of now is to take all my time and FMLA. In CT we get 16 weeks for FMLA, my job pays me 6-8 weeks Short term dis, then i can take personal/vac time to supplement the rest.
During my leave I plan on lookin for another job since this one ***** the life out of me. Hopefully I can go back PT, if not I am going back fulltime to work. Since the only fam I have here in CT is my bro and SIL, baby will need to go into Daycare.

Staying home. I'm quitting in a couple weeks actually-- do NOT feel like hauling myself onto the LIRR from now till my due date in March.

Not sure yet. I don't know if any schools will hire me already pregnant. Since I am due the end of August, I will be missing the first month of school. I would like to get a P/T night adjunct position at Suffolk or something.

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
I will be out for 3 months and then will come back FT. I work from home one day a week and my husband is home one day a week. We have my daughter in Tutor Time 3 days a week. It's pricey, but we're very happy with them.

If you don't mind me asking how much is Tutor Time for 3 days a week?

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
Wish I got a paid leave but have to file for unemployment. Going back for 18 hours a week which splits into 3 part time days for me. Mom will be watching baby 2 days, other day hubby will be able to watch her. Would love to be a SAHM!

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
I get 3 months paid then will be going back to work full time Tues-Sat. My mom will be watching him two days during the week, and my mil will be watching him the other two days during the week. DH will stay with him on Sat. DH's aunt is also available to watch him when needed. We are very fortunate (I think) to have a lot of family help.
I would actually prefer him in childcare at least two days a week for socialization reasons but family is in disagreement so we'll see how that goes. I've been so lazy with doing the research anyway.

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
I have to really think about it. I make an ok salary. DH make a great salary that we could live on and be completely comfortable, but I like working. I might see if I can either go part-time or telecommute.
A coworker of mine stayed home for 15 years - and she had such a difficult time re-entering the workforce. It makes me appreciate the years my mom stayed home with me - it was a lot to sacrifice - although I know she'd never admit to it!!

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
Well, the baby is due on June 21 and I will be off from work until September 9th or around there, so I am not taking any extra time off. However, JT gets a month paid paternity leave, and he will be taking that starting in September when I go back to work. He also made sure to take 2 weeks of his vacation right after I give birth, so he will be home a lot. I'm hoping that him being home in September will make my transition back to work easier. After that, his mom will watch the baby two days a week (JT is home two to three days a week.) I feel very fortunate for our situation.

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
I am taking 12 weeks off, and then only working 2-3 days a week. My MIL is watching my little monkey sandwich those days but only for 4 hours. My husband goes into work at 3 so he will be with the baby in the mornings and early afternoon.

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
i have no idea...
i would LOVE to stay at home for a while but we need extra $$$. our families aren't close by so they will not be able to help out as much as we would welcome. the thought of daycare for an infant does not sit well with me, but i have to do more research. i will also look into smaller child care groups, see what they are like and what the associated costs would be...
ideally i would love to take a year off, but financially this would be disastrous.

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
going back to work and she is coming with me. I "manage" a small store and the owner has "adopted" our daughter as her 4th grandchild and she has gone out of her way to make accomodations so that our daughter can come to work with me.
If and when my grandma moves to GA, she'll either watch her at home, or will come to work with me too!
ETA: DH usually has 1 day during the week off and the other day off is Sunday, so he can watch her 1 day and then Sun is family day! Plus, I might alter my hours.

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
I am a SAHM right now. I am supposed to go back to work PT in February. My mom will watch the baby 2 days a week for about 4 hours until DH gets home. I am not ready for any type of daycare.

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
Unfortunately, with house prices and taxes the way they are here on L.I., I do have to go back to work. I am currently scheduled to take 3-4 months off and then go back FT. I have a night schedule, where I work 3 overnights, 12.5 hours each to make a full work week. If it is too much for me, I will have to cut back to just 8 hours, 3 nights a week and we'll have to find a way to make the money work. I will be working Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights. DH will be home at night while I work. I will need to find somebody to watch the baby for a few hours on Fri so I can get some sleep, and then the other days DH will be home. I really hope all goes as planned.

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
I know I'm not a mommy-to-be, but I was home with Andrew for 11 weeks and after that and up until now (he is 10 1/2 months old) DH has been a SAHD with our dads pitching in 1X or 2X a week.
Starting January 2nd, Andrew will be going to Tutor Time for 3 days a week and DH will watch him the other two.

Either day care or a nanny. My mom may do it short term but she goes back to work in September.

Re: What are you doing after baby arrives?
I'm a SAHM and will stay home after the 2nd. I was thinking about staring a small business from home but I don't think that I'll be able to do that and care for 2 under 2.
