Seriously considering destination IVF

After reading the article in Conceive last night, DH and I discussed it and I am going to look into it. Does anyone have any experience, or know anyone, who did this??

Re: Seriously considering destination IVF

I haven't read the article yet...

Is it about going to another country to do IVF (where it is usually cheaper!)?

I read about it too, and I read it in a few magazines actually. Some places its like $6500 for the IVF and the stay!

I would so look into it if It were an option.

Let us know what you find Kara.

Yes...... there are pros and cons.... but I speak Spanish and love to travel and have been to hospitals overseas so I think for me the pros outweigh the cons.

I know someone who went to South Africa and did a DE cycle. It didn't work though...

My old boss went to Costa Rica for plastic surgery...not the same thing, but same concept. I have definitely thought about this for IVF...but I don't think DH would go for it.

Re: Seriously considering destination IVF

Thanks Donna -- I think the trip itself to the Czech Rep. would be a stressor. I am looking into Canada (they are sending me info) and Barbados so far. If anyone knows of any other place, without going too far, please advise! Thanks...

I did see this in the Conceive magazine as well and thought about the whole process.

Re: Seriously considering destination IVF

OK....$2,500 in Mexico at a very reputable clinic -- that is IVF AND ICSI. Meds are about another $1,000. The Dr. I have been corresponding with there has answered every single one of my questions by email promptly and concisely... It's amazing.

Lots of Amrican women are treated there.

Canada is more expensive...and I can't seem to get stats on all of the clinics there...

If anyone is interested in the info., let me know.
