Hi! I'm new (and thinking about TTC)
Hi everyone! Although this is my first post I admit that I have been reading the posts for a little while now – I have to say that I am amazed by the strength of the women on these boards, as well as the wonderful support that you all give. Truly incredible! I am so inspired by you all and wish everyone the very best!
To give you a little info about me, my husband and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary this past September. When we got married we talked about waiting 1-2 years to start a family and that two year mark is coming fast! (I’m 28 now.) I guess my question for everyone is – when you were ready to try for a little one, did you know you were ready all of a sudden, or was it a gradual process? There are days now and then when I feel ready, but (and I’m embarrassed to admit this) the whole pregnancy and delivery part really scare me. I tend to be on the worrisome side, have dealt with anxiety issues in the past, and have a very low pain tolerance – while I know that I want children, I just don’t know if I can handle the whole process (and I’m afraid that my worrying will harm the baby). Did anyone ever feel this way? Is there anything I can do to be less afraid, a book, a class, a lobotomy!? Or, does this just mean that I’m definitely not ready, b/c my fears will just melt away when I am?
Ack, sorry for the novel! Thank you all for any advice that you can give me.

Re: Hi! I'm new (and thinking about TTC)
Hi Lilly.. welcome to the boards!! Im pretty sure everyone has certain fears about being pregnant or even being a mom. Im trying for my 3rd and there are things that I still get nervous about. I think its pretty normal. Your fears wont harm the baby.. I think once you become pregnant your maternal intincts kinda kick in and you look more foward to being a mom. I have VERY low tolerance of pain as well and I cant tell ya it doesnt hurt..lol.. but please dont let that keep you from being a mom. They have epidurals which help you to be more comfortable.. The important issue really is if YOUR ready to be a mom.. if you are.. then make sure you are taking a vitamin and enough folic acid..eat healthy..try to kick any bad habits.. go for a check up..to obgyn and also GP and start charting your temps every morning so you can figure out when your most fertile days are.. My novels are always longer..lol
Lots of Baby Dust to you!!! Image Attachment(s):

Re: Hi! I'm new (and thinking about TTC)
Thank you all so much for your replies, warm welcome and best wishes! I'm so relieved to know that I'm not the only one who has these fears, and that they're even normal to have! IslandGrl - what you said about how once you become pregnant you are more focused on your baby and not your worries really made me feel a lot better - (that and the fact that you're working on your 3rd despite your low pain tolerance!). I feel like there's hope for me yet!
Thank you all again, and lots of Baby Dust to everyone!
