Tips for flying
So we are leaving for DR tomorrow to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. I hate flying so much!! I have been having bad dreams since the beginning of the week!! I def. Have control issues. I am not scared of heights but scared of dying that way!!
Any tips besides alcohol? The bars wont be open in JFK at 430am. I have tried staying up late in the past and taking a benadryl but I wind up staying wide awake the whole flight.

First, have a great trip!!
As for nerves, try some deep breathing, music you love, bring a book that will get you totally engrossed or watch the movie, or bring a comfort item to hold on to during the flight. Good luck

Let the stewardesses (sp) know how you feel about flying as soon as you get on the plane. DH had to do this for the honeymoon, even though he took xanex beforehand. They kept checking up on him and talked to him during the takeoff to make him feel better. They even offered him a free game on the little tv thingie.

I hate flying, too, so I feel your pain. I always have a Bloody Mary on the plane and pop a Benadryl! That helps! I bring my Ipod and plenty of magazines...and I say a little prayer, too. :)

One of the magazines I edit is mainly about engineering; I recently interviewed one of U.S. Navy Blue Angels for an aerospace piece I was writing and he made me feel SO much better and planes and flying in general. It's safer than driving a car!

Re: Tips for flying
Hey,you know what makes me feel better? I look up in the sky and at any given time, you can see a few planes in the air. Every single day there are HUNDREDS of flights, hundreds and hndreds of people traveling, and they all go smoothly. You have more of a chance of getting struck by lighting! it's true!
I travel a lot. The most nerve-wracking part is the take off and landing. Especially the take off. Alchohol and Benadryl to make you drowsy helps the most, I think. When you sleep on the plane, it just goes so much quicker!

Re: Tips for flying
ok so I should stick to my plan of staying up so I sleep and taking a benadryl but I should stop off and get an irish coffee with extra wiskey?? Sounds good to me!!
Thanks for the reassurance. I have 2 take off and two landings tomorrow because non of the flights are non stop to the DR!
