Carile has a cold - some questions
Carlie has been hit with her first cold. She has not fever but has been sneezing and coughing all day. I As per the pediatrician’s advice, I have been giving her Little Colds Cough and Decongestant and I went out and bought a cool mist humidifier today. I have it running in her room now. Should I keep it on all night?
Also, she only took 5 oz at her last 2 feedings (she usually takes 7 oz). Should I be concerned?
TIA

Re: Carile has a cold - some questions
When Kevin was congested we kept the humifier on all night. Just don't keep it too close to her sleeping area.
She might not be eating as much if her nose is all stuffed up because its harder to breathe. I wouldn't be overly concerned unless to goes on for a few more days. Then I'd call her doctor and let him know.
I hope she feels better soon!

Re: Carile has a cold - some questions
we just went through the same thing...we kept the humidifier on all night and per the Dr, used saline drops before feeding and suctioned the boogies out and as needed. Took about a good 2 weeks for her to get rid of all of it!

RSV - how do you know?
The chest will sound like a wheeze. Part of the treatment of RSV is to put them in a tent with a cool mist. I would definitely run the cool mist humidifier all night.

She is not wheezing and doesn't have a runny nose - just a stuffy nose and a cough - should I still be concerned for RSV?

We didn't have wheezing but when he took a breathe his whole chest would have to move. I didn't notice that I just didn't like the way he sounded- had been to the dr on mon but by thurs I didn't see an improvement and he had a cough I didn't like so we went back to dr and as soon as she took his clothes off and saw his chest she tested the oxygen in his blood and sent us directly to the ER- it was terrifying!!!!

weare going to go to the doctor today. She woke up at about 5 am and it soubded like she was choking on her cough. I called the doctor and spoke to our doctor who was on call. She had me put her in a steamy bathroom and wants me to see her partner who is in today. She seems to be a little better - I want to catch this before it turns more serious.

Went to the docttor and she has a bad cough. They put her on Zithromax and I have to keep her elevated at all times.
