There are a TON in Nassau...
I used to live in Merrick in the Merrick Manor off of Sunrise, there are some Oceanside-- and then a lot on the North Shore.. My dad lives in Acorn Ponds on Shelter Rock-- there are a few there--- then you have the Hamlet, etc. in Jericho area..
I think I remember seeing something in Westbury off of Glen Cove Rd too.

If you want Queens... do you have cash?
They start at 500k (for the very small ones).

For that I might as well by my own home... I was thinking of the townhome thing because I don't want to have to do a lot of the outside maintenance.... That's what maintenance fee's are for (right?). But for that price forget about it!
Thanks

Condos in queens start at 500k for any of the decent neighborhoods. Taxes aren't too bad but you have to pay a maintenance fee as well.
Check out Baybridge condos and House Beautiful condos to get an idea. They are attached housing though... not detatched.
If you want detatched condos in queens... thats even more money.

There are some in Valley Stream too.
We were looking at them for the same reasons but deduced that, after paying the same taxes as in a house + maintainence fees and the prices they wanted, we might as well just buy our own house. So we're doing a co-op instead.

I used to live in Willow Wood in Wantagh. Not having to do maintenence was nice for a while. Of course, the taxes were just as high as many houses in the area and the cost of the townhouse wasn't much different from the houses (but our townhouse was in better condition than many). Plus, having so many amenities was nice.

co-ops in Queens are much cheaper, a decent 2 bedroom in Bayside is going for around 220K

Thanks all... After talking to DH, we have decided to scrap the townhouse idea and start looking at co-ops instead... We are just not ready to deal with our own maintenance...

Bell Park Gardens in Bayside has duplex co-ops for incredibly cheap prices. To be honest, maybe too cheap, but DH and I are going to make sure we check it out before placing a bid on anything. Do a search on mlsli - you'll come up with a ton.
