Anyone have a Blockbuster membership and realize the "no late fees" is a crock!
I went last night, now for a year I have been paying 30.40 a month to take out 2 movies at a time, when I want as much as I want. I have held onto the movies easily for a month but if newer out of curtesy I would bring back asap, so I rented movies in jan and brought them back last night- 5 weeks later - Old movies and they charged me for the movies, a late fee AND a restocking fee. they refunded me for the movies but not for the late fee or restocking fee and cancelled my membership!
I was fuming, no call, and what happened to no late fees and I have had movies out longer hthan this???????????? I hate them. Im glad I have netflix, blockbuster will NOT get my money anymore!

there was "rules" to the no late fee thing. I knew them ahead of time. In the end you only pay the re-stocking which is $1/35 I think ? I had two movies for a few weeks, and paid $2.50 in re-stocking charges...Wasnt much of a big deal compared to what I would have paid.
From the Blockbuster site
Movie and game rentals are due back at the date and time stated on the transaction receipt. There is no additional rental charge if a member keeps a rental item beyond the pre-paid rental period. However, if a member chooses to keep a rental item more than one week after the end of the rental period, BLOCKBUSTER will automatically convert the rental to a retail sale on the eighth (8th) day after the end of the rental period (the “sale date”). BLOCKBUSTER will post to the membership account the selling price for the item in effect at the time of the rental, which is either: (1) the retail price charged by that BLOCKBUSTER store for the product if sold as new, if the product is not available for sale as a previously-rented product at that BLOCKBUSTER store at the time of rental; or (2) the selling price charged by that BLOCKBUSTER store for the product if sold (and available for sale) as a previously-rented product at that BLOCKBUSTER store at the time of rental. The selling price will be discounted by the amount of the initial rental fee paid by the member at the time of rental. If the member returns the item within 30 days of the sale date, BLOCKBUSTER will credit back to the membership account the amount previously charged to the member’s account, as applicable, for the selling price of the item, but the member will be charged a one-time restocking fee of $1.75 per unit plus applicable taxes. Available at all BLOCKBUSTER Canada stores. BLOCKBUSTER name, design and related marks are trademarks of Blockbuster Inc. ©2005 Blockbuster Inc. All rights reserved.

It just blew me away cause I have had movies out much longer and NEVER paid anything?????? maybe the rules changed. but send the customer a letter, post card or even call, I had to fill out a contract. I just think they are a bad business. I wonder if the online is the same way or you can have the movies out forever if you want like netflix.
Is that for a regular membership where you just rent a movie and pay the 4.99 or is that for the 2 or 3 rental membership where you pay 30.40 a month to rent movies? my contract says no late fees, nothing about restocking or viewing fees. My reciepts would say 0.00 and no due date.

I have always paid the "restocking fee" so that why I thought your experience was weird. yea no I never paid anything at the store, they would every month withdraw 30.40 from my CC, I would rent 2 at a time, and had them for awhile , never paid anything until last night. I have to speak with the manager and see whats going on. they even made me pay for the movies 4.99 each when they took out 30.40 from my CC too. something is wrong somewhere. I think the late fees are for renters that rent on pay per movie membership, I dont have that. I go in with 2 movies, pick out 2 new movies and thats it, no money is ever exchanged in the store. Ugh and the manager wasnt there and there was a HUGE line so I didnt want to hold everyone up so I just paid it, tomorrow I will go and see whats up. Thanks for your help,

Well I am a Store Manager for Blockbuster and what it sounds like to me is your credit card did not go through for your january payment..That is the only way they charge you for the movies..I have customers that have the movie pass and keep there movies that they rented in november and just returned them to get new ones..So something happen with your credit card..What happenes when your credit card does not go through the movies get checked out like you just came in and you have them like the normal customers get. So you can keep them for 30 days with only a 1.25 restocking fee..If you have anymore questions you can ask..Just curious what store do you rent from?
