Ditto...but, as with everything in life, there are always one or two who will turn a difference of opinion into a personal attack.

Me too. But I have to say there is a time & place, just like anything else.

ETA: I will change that and say that I like intelligent debates/conversations. What I do not like is when someone gets "preachy" or says things like.."how can you believe that...blah blah blah...." then it is no longer an intelligent conversation, but rather a p&*^&%*ng matchChat Icon

I don't think so, but it seems that these debates can turn emotional and personal fairly quickly (both on here and in real life.....)

I think it depends on the people having the conversation. I think it's fine if there is respect and willingness to agree to disagree.
They tend to get hostile when someone is trying to change someone else's mind or opinion or resort to name calling.

TTYT, I really don't know enough of the "real" facts to participate in political debates, whether on threads or in person.

I do avoid religion convos, though.

I've started a couple of threads (re: today, the supreme court ruling against Bush and the outcomes of some senate outcomes/supreme court rulings) - they don't always get a response but I post them anyway.

I really enjoy them when there is mutual respect across the board. I love to learn about others opinions and views on things plus I usually learn something new.

I love a good debate so long as people discuss the issues and don't resort to name calling. I don't see any problem with political posts.

I Like when people start political threads. I like to hear other peoples opinions and always seem to learn something new!
