Teachers-? about certification under new requirements
I have a dual degree in Special and Elem. Ed.
I recently got my certificae and it says:
Certification Area: Students with Disabilities gr 1-6 (Concentration - Childhood Education)
Is this showing I am Spec AND regular ed for elem? I got the dual degree but I think I would prefer to teach in regular ed but the wording of this certificate makes me nervous .....anyone know if this is right? I called oces but can never get through

I am dual certified (spec ed and elem ed) but I have two certificates. I was certified before all of the changes though, so maybe now they only have one certificate...you should call and check because that doesn't seem right to me. Good luck.

Call a BOCES office or NYSED. You can probably get the #'s off the website, I think it is nysed.gov.

yes, you will have to aplly for both, it wont say both on 1 certificate.. I have both too, under the old requirements.
