For those of you who have recently bought or received a new digital camera...
...is it common for them not to have a view finder thing and just a screen to look through?
I have to buy a new one and it seems as if none of the ones I like have that feature anymore and if they do, they are much higher in price.
Also, please recommend the cameras you have. I am looking for at least 7 megapixels with a rechargeable battery. Under $400 preferably.

On my kodak's I always turned off the LCD since it would just eat up the battery.

I just got myself an Olympus Stylus 710 (7.1 megapixels) and my mom a Canon Powershot (6 megapixels) both with rechargable batteries for under $300 each. Both have the LCD screen and a viewfinder.

I just got an 8.o megapixel and it has no viewfinder, just an lcd screen. I have no idea how much money it was, but I'm assuming under 300 because it's just a kodak easyshare. Maybe around 300.

I have the Olympus as well. B&H sells it for about $279 or so. This is what it looks like

I just bought my 6mp Canon Powershot SD600 for $225.
Mine has a viewfinder, but when I was looking for a dig cam, it was hard to find one that did!
I bought mine from Amazon and found their prices to be cheaper than B&H's.

Thanks ladies. Last night we combed CNET for reviews but ultimately, I make the choice. I am doing this venture by myself. DH usually does all of the wheeling and dealing for this kind of thing but I have to fight the scammers at the retail stores all on my own. This shouldnt be too bad. I am a retailer's daughter and I know the drill!
