Should I be annoyed? Sorry. Long

Okay, so I am a long time poster whose family (future sister in law) knows I am on here. So yes, I have created a fake identity. Here goes my problem. Would you guys be annoyed? Am I totally overreacting?
Background- DH's brother and DH were really close before DH's brother became engaged to his longtime girlfriend. I feel like she is so thoughtless when it comes to DH and I. My problem with her- well call her Lisa- goes back so long ago. First, I offered for her to be a bridesmaid at my wedding two years ago and she said no-"it would be inappropriate". Umm, okay. Then I invited her to DH's 30th birthday party- a large, catered event that the whole family was at- and she backed out at the last second (said she had to work). Ummm, she works the weekdays and the party was Saturday night with plenty of notice (five months) but whatever. She never calls DH or I even though I send them gifts and cards for every single occasion.
Anyway, about a month ago they got engaged. Because they live in another state (FL), I suggested to my mother in law that her and I make a party for them as the wedding will most likely not be in NYC and their NYC friends and family will not be able to make it doesn there. MIL agrees and we start doing the invite list. I make it a point to invite her parents, her younger sister and sisters boyfriend. (who live in Ohio). They are all coming.
So I now find out that her parents made another engagement party in FL for them. It was this weekend. We were never invited. Apparently, mil and fil WERE invited to this (they live here) and we weren't. 40 couples gathered down there and my DH, his BEST MAN, was not even invited!!!!! I am livid. I mean, she sent out evites. The least she could do was throw an evite our way. We might not have come but still. So now, I do not believe they are in the Ritz Carlton in a suite at what turned out to be from a "few couples gathering" to an all out engagement thing in FL. I am so annoyed we weren't invited! Should I be? How would you broach this?

i would be very upset about not being invited. I think that is very rude.
Do you know if they were on a tight budget? Could that be why?
Either way i think that was tasteless..

But i don't think there is much you can do about it at this point except try to put it out of your mind Chat Icon

Does it help to tell you that people in Florida have NO CLUE that etiquette even exists?

I would definitely be upset. That is completely rude. However, I think it should be up to your DH to decide if he wants to talk to his brother about it. Chat Icon

Absolutely agree. Even if she was 99.9% sure you couln't come she should have invited you and your out of common courtesy. My SIL was invited to my shower (she lives in WI with three kids). I never, ever expected her to fly in and be in NY. I also made sure my cousins were invited who lived out of state even though I knew they couldn't come.

I would be upset. But, maybe they didn't want you to feel obligated to buy a gift.

But, you know them better than I do. She may be clueless and self-absorbed!
