food allergy symptoms
i think Talia is allergic to pears - I started them a few days ago and her cheeks are VERY flushed (red) and she has some patches of dry skin on her chin - does this sound like it can be an allergy?

Re: food allergy symptoms
The very flushed cheeks can also sound like a teething symptom. Emily's cheeks have been very red from teething. I think if it were an allergic reaction it would be all over her body and not just on her cheeks/chin.

I agree. Christopher's cheeks get very red from teething as well.

Re: food allergy symptoms
sounds like the flush is from teething.. that happens to my daughter as well. a food allergy is more of congestion, a rash around the hiney, and diarrhea (sp?).

Re: food allergy symptoms
It sounds more like ezcema or maybe just irritation from teething.
Allergies can appear in different ways but usually hives is a clear sign. It doesn't have to be all over the body, but either around her mouth or on her fingers, or on her chest.

Re: food allergy symptoms
I don't know about the teething think but its unlikely (not impossible) that she is allergic to pears because it is one of the lowest allergen foods. Moms on total elimination diets can eat pears as their fruit because it typically causes no reaction. It might be worth asking the ped. just to be sure.
