Moms of two or more children.

I am due in March and I keep thinking that I am going to miss my daughter so much when I am in the hospital. I told DH to bring her in to see her little sibling and visit me. I am so used to being with my little girl that I think I am going to miss her so bad.
Did you go through this and how was it?

My son pretty much spent so much time with me in the hospital there wasnt alot of time to miss him.
He enjoyed hanging out with me in the hospital bed and holding his new baby brother.

Re: Moms of two or more children.

I was thinking this myself that I will miss my son. DH and I dont even leave him over night iin fact we havent gone out - and left a babysittier yet, ( we have to I know) He is 3 years old, I could have in laws watch him but I havent.

I plan to bring a picture of him to the hospital and keep it by my bed. I will make Dh and my parents bring my son to the hospital everyday to see me too.

Re: Moms of two or more children.

Joseph was 22 months when Maddie was born. I did miss Joseph, but I saw him during the family visiting hours & the regular visiting hours (which I thought was too much for him). I was upset with DH who disrupted his whole schedule by pulling him out of daycare and had him home with him all day. Since home is where he saw me, my absence was much more noticeable.

I remember crying & thinking that Joseph will never get the attention he once had from us and Maddie will never get the attention that Joseph had- and being so sad about it. Then I remembered that the reason we had them so close together is I wanted siblings - I think it's one of the greatest gifts you can give a child. Someone who understands that yes, mom is crazy at time. I felt much better.

Just one word on siblings. Joseph came down with cox sackie the week after Maddie was born. She got it a week later and was hospitalized for spinal taps etc. (that was when I REALLY missed him because it was 4 days) If your daughter is in school or daycare, just be careful with anything contagious. We thought he was just acting up because of the new baby - and only realized it when he handed me his beloved pacifier & said "No more, Fire hurts" - then we knew we had a problem

The hospital stay will fly by...Chat Icon

I missed my son so much when I was in the hospital. though he visited me everyday!

I do have to add that when they wheeled me out of the OR Patrick was the first person I saw & I was SOOOOOOOO excited to see him & see his reaction to his sisters!

My daughter is almost 22 months. She should be 2 when her little brother or sister is born.
