Newbie asking a VERY basic question!!

I'm new here (2nd post!) and looking for some basic info from you informed ladies! I know that the first day of AF is considered Day 1, right? What days are the best days to TTC? I don't really know how long my cycle is, it is presently my first cycle not being on BCP. Also, is it best to try every day, or should I wait until those specific days?

Thank you in advance for your help! Chat Icon

Edited to add- AF came 6 days later this month than it would have if I was on the pill again, don't know if that's going to be the regular lenght or not (would be 34 days).

My dr. recommended sex every other day until I was able to chart my cycle and figure out what was regular for me.

We were told to BD starting on day 10 and continue to BD every other day.

Those are great questions; I'm learning with you. We're not TTC-ing but I did go off the pill (using other BC) and it took me one full cycle to get regular.

Thanks ladies, I knew you could give me some simple answers!!! It stinks- after being on the pill for 10 years, it will probably take me a few months to figure out how long my cycle is, but the advice to start on day 10 & then every other day works for me!! THANKSChat Icon

Ok, I was just wondering this too- why do they recommend BD every other day? Is there a reason?Chat Icon

Re: Newbie asking a VERY basic question!!

I like the ovulation calculator at babycenter.com.

Because you've been on the pill for so long you haven't had a period.

I thought I had 28 day cycles...but I started writing down when I get my AF and then counting from day 1 until the beginning of day 1 the next month for the past year and it's more like every 27 days. The calculator at babycenter has been spot on!

Good luck! Chat Icon
