How did you tell your family and how did you tell your DH??

Just want to share stories

with my first child I was so young so I called my mom to come in the bathroom and made her look at the test.....I told my ex on the phone

with my 2nd child I told DH he was gonna be a Daddy
just told my parents and they congratulated me

I am looking for some Ideas for when we have baby#3

We were going to an RE for months and months so there was no grand suprise with DH.

BUT we put our first sono in a birthday card for my dad...took them a few seconds to get it.

For DH's family, we wanted to tell them in person so we waited until we went home for Christmas. BIL and his daughter (Bella who is 3) picked us up at the airport when we all got into the house we had Bella tell DH's parents "Aunt Debbie has a baby in her belly"

it was quite cute.

I woke DH up at 6:00 in the morning, right after I took the test and showed him the "pregnant" I was going to wait, but I couldn't. He was like "hugh? What?...then he saw it and he was happy."

DH told my parents that they were going to be grandparents and they were dumbfound. they didn't know what to say. My brother was like "I'm going to be an uncle?" and he was soo happy (he's 16).

DH told his mom on the phone because we probably won't see her for a while. she lives in TX.

DH was sitting wtih me when we waited for the results. Then once I saw "pregnant" and DH and I stared at each other and got over the initial shock, I called my mom "Mom, I'm pregnant!".

DH I called to work

My mom I went over and explained a stupid long drawn out story and threw in I was pregnant. Then I showed her the test ; )
DH parents we bought a Happy passover grandma and grandpa card and gave it to them.

DH-I just called him and told him on the phone. I would have liked to have done it in a cute way but I found out at like 9am and there was no way I could have held it in from him the whole day until he came home from work!

My Mom-We had just gotten our puppy about 2 weeks before we found out. She was always wanting to show her friend's pictures of the puppy, so I made her a little album and on the first page it said Grandma's Brag Book. I then put a bunch of pictures of my puppy in in and after the pictures I wrote "And Coming In September..." And the the next page had a picture of the sonogram.
So when I gave it to her, she was looking through it really thinking it was just an album of the dog, she had no clue. It was nice to suprise her!

For Dh's parents, we had to tell them over the phone since they live in Florida now.

Since we live in GA. I told everyone over the phone except my IL's (at the time they were the only nes with a webcam).. It was my MIL's birthday and we told her we wanted to show her her b-day gift. I held up a pair of knit yellow booties.

DH: I was lying on the couch and said I think I am pregnant - took a test and said look I am and just laughed. He said take it again - he coulnt believe it. That was with Sammy. With Sara, I took a test and just showed it to hiim. Iwanted to do it in a cute way but i am so fast to jump that I couldnt wait

I just told our parents over the phone.

DH: He went to drive my cousin to the airport and I was stuck with no car to drive anywhere to come up with something cute so instead when he got home I told him I wanted to go to Fridays and I had the test in my bag. When we got their after we ordered our food I told him I had a present for him and I made him close his eyes and I put it under a napkin. When he lifted it he wasn't sure what it was and didn't understand what the two lines meant. When he figured it out he got all choked up.

My Mom and one of my brothers: She was depressed b/c my dad was in Europe with my 2 other brothers and sister so I invited them over for dinner and bought a small ice cream cake from Baskin & Robbins and had them put Congratulations Nonna. She thought they made a mistake and didnt put two and two together right away. Then she cried for I dont know how long. She told my sibblings that we in Europe over the phone and hid it from my dad.

My dad: My mom told him I was making dinner for them for when he came home with everyone. He also has his own business that involves tugboats and barges. So I had a t-shirt made since he has t-shirts for his employees in a toddler size and on the back it had a cartoon drawing of a TugBoat and on the front where the name would go it said Baby Sxxxxxxxx and I put it in a box and floded it backwards so you saw the back first. So after we ate I told him I was searching for something on the internet and told him that I found something I thought would look good in the office of course he went on and on about why I bought it. So he opened it and loved the shirt but wouldnt turn it around until I told him to look at the front. He looked at it and then looked and my mom then me then DH and asked if me I was and I said yes and he was surprised.

DH's Family: We stopped by one night durning the week after they ate dinner and we brought a cake and on it we put "Congrats Grandma & Grandpa, Make room for one more at teh table"

DH: I took the test 2 hours before he came home from work. I wrapped the test up in a Victoria's Secret bag and tissue paper. When he came home he saw the bag on the table and said what is this? I said I bought something for us today. He looked inside and there was the test. He was so shocked. and then he started to get choked up. He was ecstatic. This happened on a Friday night.

My Mom -
DH's Mom - We told them the same way. Then next day we went over to their house and before we showed up we called on the cell. We said were in the neighborhood, can we stop by? When we showed up we told them.

My Dad
DH's Dad - called over the phone my dad is out of state and DH & his father have a strained relationship.

All other family: We called everyone

DH- I took two tests at 5am- I had bought two baby bibs one says "I love my mommy" and the other says "I love my daddy". I tied one on each of our dogs' necks and we all went and woke up DH and I showed him the test!

I called my parents at 5:15am and told them over the phone!

Tomorrow we are telling DH's parents and brothers- we are giving them each a card that says:

Dear Grandma/Grandpa/Uncle:

In exactly 8 months I'll be on my way!
By the end of the year, I'll be here to stay.
Baby X (drawn in pink)?
Baby Y (drawn in blue)?
Noone can say.
But December 2nd is my estimated birth day!!

Love, Baby (our last name).

I actually told my MIL first.. i tested at work, and i called her on the phone.. she was like, "what??? wait, i have to go home." I was like, "you ARE HOME!! "

DH: The weekend before i found out he had offered me a beer and i refused, he's like, "your not pregnant, you just have gas.".. and he asked me when my period was due, i told him i was prob gonna test on Monday, even though period wasnt due till i think friday or saturday. So monday on my way home from work, i stopped at the store to buy pink and blue baby socks and i had the girl at the store put them in a plain box. I got home thinking i was gonna do this cute thing, and walked in the door, he almost jumped on me, and said," Are you pregnant?"... i was like, "great, there goes that idea" and thru the box down! He was so shocked. I had told him the month before that we should start trying since it could take a long time to get pregnant. So as he's sitting on the couch, he's like, "i thought u said it could take a long time!"... Guess not in our case i said!!!!!! Just took once apparently. Then he started bragging on how his "boys" were such good swimmers.. MEN!!!

And my family, i just told on the phone.. no biggee with them..

DH- Before he came home from work I took a test and put it on the vanity with a sign that said "Lookie Here Daddy". I didn't realize that with digital test the word "Pregnant" disappears in one hour so I had to rush and take another one before he got home. Of course that was the one day where he plopped down on the couch instead of going right to the bathroom when he walked in the door. So, I had to lead him in there. He was quite surprised!

My Mom- We were at her house for awhile and I finally said we'd like to go out to dinner and we'd like to take her with us. She got kind of pissy because it was late and she didn't want to go out. So, I told her we wanted to celebrate that she was going to be a grandmother again. She almost died! It's probably not a good idea to shock an old woman like that

DH Parents- We waited until we went to Boston to see them. They gave us our belated Valentine's gifts at dinner and we gave them a "to my Grandparents" card with the sono picture in it. There were tears everywhere!!

For #1 I wrapped a bib that said "I Love Daddy". DH caught on pretty quick! For #2 I put a "I'm going to be a big brother" shirt on my toddler.

We told my family on Christmas Day both times.
