Little freaked out....

I had red highlights put in my hair yesterday morning. Washing my hair today I noticed red water in the bottom of the tub. It is washing out!!!! I shampooed it two times (which I never do) and then conditioner. I didn't notice any more red in the water. I get out, wrap my towel around my body, wait two minutes and take a look at the towel. My brand new ivory towel is streaked pink across where my back was. I threw it in the washer. I have to dry it to see how much went out. Seriously, I am sure SOME of it would have washed out, but isn't it weird that I still saw some red on my towel?

Something is DEFINATELY not right. Professional hair color should NEVER run. They didnt wash you out good enough. Was this the first time you washed it since the color?

Yes, and she said yesterday that I didn't need to wash it when I got home cause she put a toner in it.

Re: Little freaked out....

Red is a very hard color to keep in your hair, I use to color my hair a lot in the past, and I wanted to go red once and all the color washed right out, I had some red in my hair towel also. I would go back and have her do it again, but JMO I would maybe go another color, its very hard to maintain red hair.

ETA: Just last month I asked my hair dresser to maybe put some red highlights in for a change, and she said NO WAY! It will wash right out of your hair. I'm brown with blonde highlights, and the red would not take to the blonde that was already there.

I colored my hair alot and red was one of my favorite colors. The only problem with red is that it "bleeds". I had the same problem and it would stop after a couple of washings. If it continues after that, I would contact the person who did it. Sometimes the hair shaft has a hard time holding the color.

Re: Little freaked out....

I dye red also. I dont get any color on my towels, but red hair dye does oxidize and get brassy if not maintained properly. I use Artec shampoo with color deposits.
