What are some questions to ask..

At an open house..

Not for me but for my good friend. Shes gonna start looking over the weekened and has no idea what to ask about...

Also, can you ask how firm a price is at an Open house or do u not want to discuss price at that time?

You can definitely ask if they're negotable on price at an OH. Also ask what kind of timeline they're on - need to move asap, can move whenever, etc. This sometimes will give you an indication on how firm they are on asking price also.

Most OH's will provide a sheet with all pertinent info but sometimes it's not chock full of info so be sure to ask what has been updated (cesspool, roof, etc). Check every nook & cranny - pull open the circuit breaker box (check for updates 100, 150, 200), check windows, water pressure, etc.

Check in the attic (if applicable).

Where is the oil tank? Under ground, over ground etc?

Oil heat or Gas?

Oil hot water or Hot water tank?

Any renovations done to the house?

When was the work done?

Was the work done legal?

All permits and C/O's on the house are up to date?

How much are the taxes before and after star? Always call the towns assessors office to find out exact taxes

What size is the property

Can you park on the street over night

Does the house have in ground sprinklers?

Central air?
Central Heat?

What School district is the house located in? If more than 1 school, which one exactly?

How old is the roof?
How old are the windows?
If it has a fireplace, is it gas or wood burning, is it in working order?
Do all the appliances come with the house?
Are they in working order?
Is there hard wood flooring under the carpet (If there is carpet) lol
