First Time Moms

Do ever feel that you will have no idea on what to do once the baby comes. I am feeling overwhelmed by the fact that in 4 months I will be responsible for this little baby and I have absolutely no clue as to how to raise her or that what I will do is right. DH says all first timers must feel the same way. I was wondering if that was true. Anyone else feel like this?

I dont necessarily feel this way but I think dh feels this way and that is making me a bit nervous bc I think he is going to totally rely on me for everything. Also the cost of everything is making me a little ill!

If it helps as a BTDT, I can tell you we all have a stunned look when they give you the baby to go home. I couldn't believe they thought I knew what I was doing.

Re: First Time Moms

I feel the same way too. But like you said I think all first time moms feel this way and everyone gets through it so I just hope for the best.

I think we all felt like this at one point or another, but once that child is in your arms, it will all go away. It did for me with my DD. It'll be ok and all the anxiety is normal.

I am a teacher and have worked in day care also. I know how to change a diaper, feed a baby etc. It's just the when to do certain thingsb and the overwhelming feeling of responsibilty.

Thanks for all the support!Chat Icon

I think as a first time you get to feel this way. One of my friends recently gave birth and we went to see her at the hospital. I've been giving this some thought and wondering but it really hit me hard when I saw my friend and I was thinking that in a few, I'd be in her shoes. I feel that it's pretty overwhelming and thought of that day when I take the baby home....and like Barbara said, I'd probably have that same stunned look on my face. My only comfort is knowing that if millions of moms do it every day, I can do the same and you learn as you go.
