baby lotion and sponge baths
Since we can't give her a bath yet until her cord comes off ....how often should I be giving her a sponge bath? Everyday or every other day? Also, do I put the lotion all over...on her face too? Should I put lotion everyday?TIA

I gave logan a sponge bath every other day and no lotion on his face. Now that he is 4 1/2 months same thing. Bath every other night and lotion everywhere but the face. Good luck and congrats!!!

Re: baby lotion and sponge baths
Hey Dani Congrats!!!!!!!
We bathed him everyother day. He was peeling pretty badly but the Dr said not to use lotion for 7-10 days and let the skin come off on it's own.......After 10 days I used lotion on him everyday (Eucerin or Cetaphil w/ fragrance free)......His face was peeling (close to his head) so I use little lotion there but not near the eyes.

Re: baby lotion and sponge baths
I used lotion right away but never - not even now on the face. I only clean his face with Cetaphil for his face seems to be very sensite to even J&J products.
I was told in the hospital not more than every other day for baths. Recommended maybe 2-3 times a week - I think that is what I did. They don't get very dirty that little.
I missed your announcement - CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!

Re: baby lotion and sponge baths
I've never used any lotion at all. Many babies have amazing soft skin naturally!
In terms of the bath, if your baby doesn't enjoy it (which she probably won't at this point) there is no reason to do it unless she is dirty. More than twice a week would be for your benefit, not hers. Once a week is enough to keep her clean (assuming you are cleaning her well at each diaper change).
I guess I'm on the low maintence end of the spectrum though!
