Never been to Atlantic City - where to stay?

FH and I just want to get away for 1 night - it may even be a weeknight....

where would you recommend staying? Something not too expensive, but not a dump either!

We stay at Harrahs a lot. It's not on the boardwalk, its in the marina but you can take a little shuttle bus over to the other casinos. Because of its location it's not too expensive, but its a nice place!!

Re: Never been to Atlantic City - where to stay?

I'm stayin at Bally's next week-will let you know how it is...Chat Icon Free room i got!!
I've stayed at Showboat..rooms are so-so.
Caesar's is nice, but Borgata is the best!!
During the week, it's like 179/nite.
You can also check availability on www.atlanticcity.com.
Most of the time I stay in the Comfort Inn, etc., near Atlantic City, since stayin on the boardwalk on the weekends is so much $$$, unless somoene has a comp room.

Re: Never been to Atlantic City - where to stay?

I stay at Atlantic Palace when I don't want to spend a ton of money. It's an all-suites hotel on the boardwalk. Each room has a jacuzzi and a seating area. The 2-bedroom ones have kitchettes and dining rooms.
The hotel doesn't have a casino but it's on the boardwalk right near Taj Mahal, Claridge and all the other main casinos. Easily walkable to everything you'd want to do and right on the boardwalk.
The Taj is a great hotel/casino option. Their club, Casbah is pretty good and their casino is always packed.
ETA: I've stayed at Bally's too. Nice rooms, clean.
I was at Bellagio a month ago ... very expensive, but very Vegas ("looks like the Bellagio"). I think the rooms were like $500 per night though.

I'm checking hotels.com right now - I think we'll prob end up going Thursday the 25th into the 26th, or Sun the 28th into Monday the 29th. (Working around FH's work schedules - after camp ends, before teaching begins.)

Re: Never been to Atlantic City - where to stay?

We usually stay at the Sheridan (the hotel for the Convention Center). Its alot less than most of the hotels (around 200.00 per night), and they do allow Sat Night Check in (which most hotels do not). Its a very nice hotel and its about a $5 cab ride to any Casino (if you want to leave the car in the parking lot) They also have complimentary Limo service to Ceasers on Saturday nights. We have done that a few times already and never had a problem.

Re: Never been to Atlantic City - where to stay?

Ived stayed at Ballys ( the one next to trump) I loved it there, Trump Plaza- hated it bigtime and the Showboat- Loved it there!

I also stayed at a dive off the boardwalk- I cant remember the name- ugh it was soooooooooooo gross.
I also stayed at the Renaissance- I think thats the name- all the way down at the end off the boardwalk- that was nice.

The Sheraton is nice and usally less expensive then boardwalk hotels.

If you are really considering midweek stays, your choice of inexpensive rooms is huge. The Trop goes for $125 and borgata goes for $200 vs $350 and 500 respectively.
