Job related advice needed

I went on a job interview today & they offered me the job on the spot which was very flattering to me. But..... Its a 40 hour work week, $1000 less than I am making now. Those things I can deal with but its only 9 or 10 days off a year. I have 22 days now. Time off is very important me as it is to everyone. So I don't know what to do. I HATE my current job and its going no where. This new CO is a family owned business which is what I wanted.

What would you do?

Will you earn more time off with successive years? this is a tough one for me. I would have a hard time going from 22 days off to 10. but if you really hate your current job, you might not need the extra 12 days as much.

As far as the money, I would give up $1000 a year in a heartbeat for a job I liked a lot better.

If it's a $1000. less of your current gross salary you probably aren't going to feel the difference... of course, depending upon how much that is a percentage of your gross.

You have to ask yourself if your current frustration is worth $1000.. Can you ask them about flex time or negotiate more time off?

I don't think a $1000 difference would make the decision for me. Again, it would depend on what you do. I think the question would more be, can you see yourself liking this job even if you have to lose some days off for it

Re: Job related advice needed

For me, to be perfectly honest the lack of vacation would be a dealbreaker for me.. I currently have 4 weeks vacation and at this point, I really could not get by with 2 weeks or less..

Between the slight pay cut (which really isn't anything) and the lack of vacation, its a tough call..
I had a friend who worked in Manhattan, had 5 weeks vacation, a great salary and was miserable. Switched to a small company in Westchester, took a 10K paycut and only started with 2 weeks vacation, but was getting home SO much earlier every night and was the happiest I'd ever seen her

You have to do what is right for you! Good luck!
