I am having a horrible night
Hi Guys,
I could really use some hugs.
Can I ask, does it upset you if you know your parents are not getting along? And you feel so bad for the one of them who is getting the **** end of the stick?
For some reason, my mom has been so mean to my Dad lately, and he is such an amazing person. She retired last year, dosent cook, rarely wants to do anything, etc. She has had some major back problems lately, and I am hoping this is the reason why. I just feel so bad for my father. I hate being here in Amityville, and them being in Howard Beach, and wondering if they are getting along.
Im sorry. I know I probably sound ridiculous, but I just needed to vent.

Re: I am having a horrible night
That's a tough thing to watch your parents fight. I don't see it happen really but every now and then my mom will b*tch about my father to me and it gets me so fired up.
Is your mom doing anything for her back? Does she have meds? Hopefully it's just that she is in pain and the easiest people to take it out on our DH.

Re: I am having a horrible night
I have a hard time when my mother gets like that with my dad, too. However, I try to remind myself that it is their relationship and that they have their own issues that I may not know the full extent of. I just think it's hardest when one parent brings you into it. I don't really feel the need to know if my mom thinks my dad is an azzhole at the moment, y'know? So I usually tell her to call someone else and leave me out of it. My mom is very spoiled and bratty and can be very mean to my father, but hey, he's the one who allows her to act that way towards him, so I don't have as much sympathy as I used to. Hang in there. Parents are people, too, and it's hard sometimes to remember they have their own issues, too.

Re: I am having a horrible night
Quite honestly - this would happen between my parents often while I was growing up - I hated it! I would get very upset and knew there was nothing that I could do about it. Now they get along and very rarely get into any arguments

I know. I HATE it when my mom will complain to ME about my father. GO CALL ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS!!!!!! Don't tell your daughter all the stupid stuff that you think he does!!!!
UGH - I just got fired up there for a second.

Re: I am having a horrible night
I actually sat both my parents down about a year ago and explained that when they drag me into their fights or talk bad about each other to me, it really affects me terribly. I guess they never realized they were doing it, and they have since stopped for the most part. If my mother starts to do it, then I tell her she needs to stop, and she respects that. They have a great relationship, but man, they are two of the most vocal people I've ever met! It's like ok, tell me what you REALLY think! So strange.

LOL. It's good that you said that to them though - sometimes people don't see what they are doing or how it affects people. See my dad never says a word - for the most part it's my mom complaining about all the things he's not doing because he spends all of his time on the golf course...blah...blah...blah!!!!!
ETA: If my DH spent as much time on the golf course as my dad does....I would have to knock him out!!
