Need Some Help-Don't Know if I'm Doing Something Wrong- Warning Long and TMI
My husband and I are newly TTCing. My cycles have never been regular (anywhere from 26-36 days)
Anyway here is where the TMI comes in: I had AF on Sept. 4, waited till it was over and then began using Answer OPK. So on CD17, I got a surge line after 3 minutes (I tested in the evening). On CD 18, I got a surge line immediately and then again on CD 19 a surge line. During this time, we were BDing pretty much every day :).
So my questions are, is it possible to have a surge for 2 days? Did I follow the methodology correctly of BDing during ovulation. Does it matter the time of day that you BD?
Needless to say I got AF on Oct 5, so obviously it didn't work, so I started charting as well.
Any help would be so appreciated.

The reason some people get a surge for more than one test is because the first time you test it catches your surge on the way up and the second time it catches it at absolute peak and then if there is a third time you can be catching it on the start of its decline.

ONE: let me say that there is NEVER TMI!
we are all in the same boat here.
DebG explained it pretty well.
You sound like you did everything right...just keep in mind it may take some time to get a BFP...not because you are doing anything wrong.
It's all G*D's will!

Re: Need Some Help-Don't Know if I'm Doing Something Wrong- Warning Long and TMI
I am going to throw a twist into this whole thing .....as usual :)
OPKS are not that reliable. They work for some people under some conditions. For instance, they have worked for me in the past. However, now that I started femara, I didnt' feel comfortable relying on them, and I was, correct.
Yesterday, I had bw done, for LH and had a sono. Sono showed two mature follies. I went home, used answer opk and ...got a surge,....did another one later on, got a darker surge. Did one the next morning, and no surge. Results from the bloodwork, showed "no surge". I went back to the RE, today, and follies are still there....growing. The Re explained that this just proves opks aren't that reliable. I have always, used my monitor...and that has worked for me in the past. Funny thing is, my monitor has me on Low Fertility, and when I called Clearblue and told them about being on femara, they even said,....that it may not work well. So, I am heading back tomorrow for more bloodwork and a sono lol.
Also in women who have pcos, opks do not really work because their LH is usually increased, throughout their cycle.
I can't stress this enough....definitely chart temps and use an opk as a helpful tool. Don't stop bding, until you see a definite thermal shift.....three temps significantly above the coverline ! ...then you can take a bd break :)
However, Cherdh, based on the information you gave, I am pretty sure the opk did work for you and you did ovulate, cd20, the day after your LH surge. Since you got your AF, Oct5th. That would make your Luteal Phase 14 days :) (hence the 2ww)

Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for all of your help and your baby vibes. I hope it works this month. I'm sure I will have questions as the charting progresses and will need the help of all ypu genius ladies.
