what do you bring to closing? anything else to know?
does anyone prep you for exactly how much money you should have? just in case the good faith estimate was off?

We took our checkbook, id's and hands ready to sign page after page after page of documents. Congrats!!!!! I am sure everything will go fine.

your attorney will tell you how much to bring when he works out the numbers. you may need to bring a copy of your insurance binder along with your IDs and checkbook. don't forget to get your utilities switched over too!

i just did my utilities today! once you know the date you are going to take possesion call LIPA and the Water Authority!! all they need is your new address and the date you want it switched!! Also, cable takes 1 1/2 -2 weeks to turn on, so make sure you do that in advance too!

do you find out all the utility info at closing? I think someone said you can get the oil/water/electric to just switch the account into our names...is that how it works ?

Once you have a HARD closing dating, you can contact the utilities to coordinate the transfer.

do it before you close, once you know your actual closing date and the date that you will take possesion... there is no utility info to find out, just call the companies and tell them to switch it!
