BABY SHOWER FOR BABY # 2 ???

I am having a big problem with a BF
she keeps insisting that I have another baby shower for my 2nd baby.

I dont wish to have one I feel that you only have baby showers with youre first pregnancy.

My first little one (Joseph) is going to be 4 years old in October and I have everything that looks brand new I dont need anything really.

I purchased the bedding already I always pick out bedding that is so expensive that I always purchase it.

HELP ????Chat Icon

I think a "Sprinkle" - (a 2nd baby shower) is fine - especially if you are having a different sex - or if your kids are far apart in age.
I also think that if one of my good friends (or family member) was having a 2nd child that I would doa s much as I did for the 1st.

I'm not having one and I don't think it is necessary. My kids will only be three years apart. I have everything and if it is a different sex I sure we will get gifts. If we don't I will go clothes shoppingChat Icon I think if there is a signifigant age difference or it is from a new marriage it is okay. I myself would feel uncomfortable having one. IMHO

I would go for it. make it small. It's been getting pretty common these days to have another shower after the first. I believe ettiquite goes after 5 years it's ok, but now a lot of my friends are having them year after year.

I planned on getting them something anyway, this way I know what they would prefer or need, kwim.

I've never known anyone to have a baby shower her 2nd baby....not to say I wouldn't want to go if she did. I just feel that I would get her something anyway whether she had one or not.

I wouldn't think its necessary. Im planning on using everything we bought or received as gifts for baby #2 (whenever that is!) - except for bedding etc..., i personally don't have the room to store everything anyway (i can't imagine having duplicate things) and besides everything is brand new.

Me too. I think I'd feel funny having a second one. If I was being pressured into it, I guess I would just make it very small and only invite close friends and family.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a "sprinkle". Your kids are 4 years apart. a friend of mine just had another baby (they are 5 years apart) and we had a small shower for her.

I am having a small "sprinkle" for close friends and family only. It is a formal tea and really to celebrate the arrival of Chat Icon

I will not register and am sure I will not recieve "big" gifts but instead little outfits, maybe pink blankets etc.

I see nothing wrong with showering, or sprinkling, a mom to be with some love while she is preg.

I am looking forward to a day with my mom and friends in anticipation of my Chat Icon

BTW, I have a son so it will be nice to have some pinkChat Icon

If you don't want it - don't let her force you.
I, personally, don't get the whole 2nd shower/sprinkle thing when the babies are close in age. I understand when there is a 6+ year difference, but not when the mother has all the baby stuff still. But, if someone's child is still young and the parents have baby supplies, it comes off as sort of greedy to me. JMO.

Re: BABY SHOWER FOR BABY # 2 ???

I was thinking, but UM, She has had her baby now when I read it Chat Icon I was so confused.

But to answer anyway Chat Icon I think TO
EACH THEIR OWN and anyone who judges anyone elses decisions has a BIG PAIR ...We all have opinions sure, but in the end, WHO CARES what anyone thinks about your decisions, for or against. Not their lives KWIM?

Baby showers are not all about the "gifts" ...at least they shouldnt be and I wonder why one baby gets to be celebrated as the FIRST and not the others? I always buy gifts for all my family and friends children whether they are the first or 5th so it doesnt matter to me if i give them at a shower or when I see them.
