Re: Pool Time!

They sell bathing suits that have floats built into them, that look a lot like wet suits. I saw them at target recently but they didn't have a good range of sizes. However when I worked at Dunrite in Bohemia they sold all different sizes and I'd imagine that if you called there they could help you out.

Re: Pool Time!

I dont think those would keep him a float enough since he doesnt know how to stay upright... Jeremy was in a boat type float last summer, he is 16 months now and just learning how to use swimmies.

I got one for Ryan last year and even then it wasnt good enough. I saw someone witha similar one with an actual hoope float around the waist. I think that probably would be the best if you could find it.

On the website "One Step Ahead", you can find a bunch of different floats for infants.

Re: Pool Time!

I dont think I was planning on letting him free anyway... I was planning on holding him myself, and just wanted extra protection...

Re: Pool Time!

I think with the wetsuit type thing (Ive never used it) It seems to have to have more of a grip on the child, but on a float type thing, they have much more freedom and you just have to hold a side of the float.
If its a well made one that is sturdy and they are secure, you really just have to hold the side of the float and be right by there side every second.

My boys HATED being held in the water, they preferred kicking their way around in the float. actually one of them wanted neither the float or anyone holding him, so that was tough Chat Icon

Re: Pool Time!

Caiden is much older, but I got him a regular life jacket. I've heard bad things about the floaties, and I couldn't figure out what else I can get him that I can still hold him if I want to. I got it at BJ's.

Re: Pool Time!

Last summer when Claire was 6-9 months old she used these 2 floats. The yellow one we got on vacation which was her favorite (mine too)! The green one we used at the inlaws, it did a good job of holding her up, but it allowed water near the inner float and she kept trying to drink the water, so it was almost useless, plus it was actually huge and took up a lot of room.

We have tried every single one and we LOVE this one!

It's the one claire has above but in blue. It's sturdy enough to just let him float around in from a slight distance and also he leans a bit fowards and kicks and can move around the pool. Plus since it lets in water he likes to splash that water around instead of him trying to reach over the ends of the other floats we have had.

Re: Pool Time!

I think I got our green float at CVS or Ekerd last summer. It is a good float for letting them feel the water and move a bit better, it just didnt work out for us since Claire wanted to drink the water! LOL.

It is called a Baby Spring Float by Swimways Corp

They have them listed on
Amazon but for some they dont have a good picture of the design. Oh another plus of this float was that it folds up into a circle and is easy to carry and inflate.

Re: Pool Time!

I got Gianna the bathing suit with the float already inside. We have a pool, and I plan to hold her, but it has the extra protection. I will let you know if it works. I also bought a float shaped like the Little Tykes car.
