Blood work tomorrow..
Hi girls, well tomorrow I have my 1st appointment but it is just for blood work. What should I expect? How much blood do they take, is it a little from my finger or a lot from my arm I get weezey when it comes to blood. Also is this blood to confirm that I am pregnant and when do I get results? Sorry i have SO many questions but I am new and if you know my story alone with no one to talk to yet because I have not told yet thanks.

Re: Blood work tomorrow..
8 vials OMG! ok so is there anything special I should do to prepare so I do not get weak. Also is my Boyfriend allowed in with me if it is just blood work, they do not do anything too personal right?

Re: Blood work tomorrow..
It's a LOT of blood, but you'll get through it - mommy instincts will kick in and you'll forget about everything else! I have an absolutely INSANE fear of blood and needles to the point where I pass out and start shaking because I'm so stressed. But, when it came to baby, all that went out the window. You'll be amazed...
Make sure you eat something before or drink a soda or something. That way your blood sugar will be high so you won't get too woozy.

Re: Blood work tomorrow..
I never really get why people need bloodwork right away when they find out they are pregnant....The first bloodwork I had with both my pregnancies was at 12 weeks.

Re: Blood work tomorrow..
My DH was allowed to come with me- I really needed him when they took blood (I'm the biggest baby there is!) I asked to lie down which helped. They did take 8 viles. I had them use a baby needle, which took longer but it's so tiny! I also used emla cream on my arm to numb the area. If it's the pain that makes you sick, ask your Dr. for a prescription for it. I didn't feel a thing!
I am now 16 weeks and my DH has gone to every appt. I love having him there to see the sono and hear the heartbeat!
