Which room is best for the nursery? I need help picking a room

Which room in your house is the most ideal for the nursery?

Example: Same floor as your bedroom, on a different floor, or sharing your room. The biggest room or the smallest?

Edited: I have a question I added to the bottom of the page. I need help picking a room...

Re: Which room is best for the nursery?

I would have to say same floor as your bedroom and I'd do the smaller room the nursery...that is if you have enough rooms to do that.

We're making the smaller of the 2 other bedrooms on the same floor as the master bedroom the nursery...because we figure when the baby gets older he/she can go in the bigger bedroom and if we have baby #2...he/she can just stay in the nursery.

Ditto... we have two guest bedrooms, both on the same floor as the master bedroom. We decided to use the smaller guest bedroom so that when this one gets older, we'll move him/her to the bigger bedroom and can still use the little bedroom for a nursery for #2

Same thing here. We made the smaller bedroom across from our master bedroom the nursery. Then when the next baby comes, we will move Isabella into the bigger bedroom.

We gave Claire the larger of the 2 extra bedrooms on the same floor as our bedroom. We figure if there is a baby #2 we wont have to move Claire and have her feel like she is giving up her room. At that point we will just make the smaller room a nursery.

At first, the baby is going to share our room in a bassinette. By the time I go back to work, the baby will have his/her own room. We are making the nursery the bedroom closest to ours.

at first as a newborn, she'll sleep in our room, but her room is just a few steps across the hall, as is the 3rd BR

Re: Which room is best for the nursery?

Thanks everyone, but I'm in a bit of a pickle over which room to pick for the nursery.
We live in a cape with 4 bedrooms (two on the main floor and two upstairs). Right now we are up stairs using both rooms, one room has are bed and the other room has are dressers. These are the smallest of the bedrooms. My DH really likes having both the rooms he calls it our "Suite", plus we have a bathroom upstairs which we both love. We have no room to put a crib, a cradle or changing table upstairs.
So, We will have to move downstairs. Do we put future baby in the other bedroom next to us on the main floor or put future baby upstairs in our old bedroom?

Any words of advice would be great!
Thanks

I would put the baby closest to you.

I would put the baby on the ame floor as you. In the beginning, the baby gets up alot at night and you don't want to be going up and down the stairs all night.

I'd put the baby in the 2nd bedroom downstairs and when it gets older, move it upstairs. That's the way we had it in our Stony Brook cape....the 2 bedrooms upstairs (one was the Master) were for us kids and our parents slept downstairs (they hated hearing us go up and down the stairs though!)

Our nursery is on the same floor as our bedroom but we opted to use the larger room because we actually ordered too much furniture to fit in the smaller room. We will probably have our second child in this house but will move after that and hopefully each child will get a nice big room

I would move your room down stairs and put the baby in the other room downstairs. I live on the second floor, and the stairs are a PIA, I couldnt imagine running up and down stairs in the middle of the night...yuck!

Then the upstairs could act as a guest room for now. Then, when the baby gets bigger he/she could be moved upstairs, and the baby room downstaiurs could be turned back into a guest room.

Just my opinion...whats your latest thought??
