Baby Naming Question

Do I need to bring a gift? The baby will be 5 months old at the baby naming and when she was born we gave a gift worth approx. $100. No gift, right?

Re: Baby Naming Question

It's a hard one,,, I have different things on this one...

I don't think you do, however, I would feel funny not bringing anything so I would get a token gift-- not more than $15-20..

Re: Baby Naming Question

It is for a really good friend-- and the last time I had one- it was the same sitch, and I didn't bring a gift-- HOWEVER, this one is a bigger " to do" at her IL's country club with lunch and stuff.

Bring something small, engraved or painted with the baby's name.

Re: Baby Naming Question

a baby naming is something that is done in the jewish religion when a baby gets their hebrew name.

For baby girls, it's more of a big deal since boys usually have a more formal bris.

Honestly- I am Jewish and I didn't even know what it was until my friends started having babies. I technically had one-- but was not present for it-- my grandfather did it at their temple in Boston. Nowadays, it's an excuse to throw a big party-- which is why they are much more common.

Re: Baby Naming Question

I would probably still bring something small like a cute outfit or something.
I still haven't done one for my daughter and she turned 7 months.

Re: Baby Naming Question

25 dollars will get you a 50 dollar bond, perfectly acceptable, look at it like a christening, what would you give? My dd got a bunch of bonds as well as cash and some cute gifts. :)

Re: Baby Naming Question

I think you still need to bring a gift. "Baby is born" and Chirstening/naming gifts are usually separate. When the bris/ naming is closer to the say the baby is born you can get away with one gift AT the bris/naming, but I think since it's 5 months out you should bring a gift.

I would bring a gift, but not something expensive, around $30-$40.

Re: Baby Naming Question

I use this oamn all th time for baby girl gifts. I get the baby girls a name bracelet. She'll do any design and color you want. she also runs great sales too. I loved her stuff so much I wound up getting my mom, sisters, friend, grandmother and babysitter gifts from her too.
