MAJOR sleeping issues!

For the past three nights Jack has been waking up every two hours and screaming, throwing temper tantrums at the top of his lungs. Last night he was throwing himself at the sides of his crib! This is so unlike him. He is just getting over a week long illness where he was consumed by vomitting and diarrhea. He is now eating and regular and is fine during the day and for naps. But at nightt he is horrible and I don't know what to do. I am exhausted since I haven't slept a full night in a week since i was getting up, changing him and the sheets....not to mention i am 11 weeks pregnant.

I'm pretty sure he is not sick since he can be calmed down in the middle of the night, but it takes about an hour. I've never seem him like this and it is worrying me.

Could it be the terrible twos coming a little early? Anyone go through this?

Re: MAJOR sleeping issues!

I just responded with this to the night terrors thread. Tell me if this sounds like what you are watching:

Ryan had them around 18 months. They are horrible. Sarah's doesnt sound like it because in a night terror they are truly inconsolable. The more you try to hold them the more they fight you. There was nothing we could do until it ended. We literally would just put him on the floor and he would roll back and forth from front to back hitting and kicking the floor. Sometimes standing and then throwing himself on the floor. All the while screaming and I mean screaming. Totally asleep. Evetually I found that his favorite music (baby einstein) would bring him out of it. It is truly like they are possessed. I learned quickly that it happened when he was overtired and tried to make sure this didnt happen. He is 3 now and knock on wood it has been a while, I hope they are gone and I hope no one else has to go through this.

I think Jack is just a little younger than Aidan and we went through this last month although not as severely.

AIdan was getting his bottom molars and what I now think, was trying to transition from his crib. Ever since his molars came in and is over a vomitting sickness (weird one, was always hungry, got sick long after eating and even skipped a day) and loving his new bed he is back to normal in the sleeping dept. All told, it took about a month.

Good luck! I hope he is not having bad dreams Chat Icon

I'm pretty sure Jack is awake because he just wants to be taken out of his crib and watch the Backyardigans! It is like he is beyond livid that we expect him to sleep at 3am. Anyway, he has been much better today and back to his normal self so hopefully tonight will be different. Cross your fingers. Thansk!
