What about when people give you gifts that you don't want or need.
GRRR hit enter to fast.
when I got married my aunt gave me "princess barbie" Cute (since she always called me princess) but I was 23 when I got married now im 26 I don't need or want princess barbie!
I feel bad getting rid of it!

You mean like a gold pocketbook? 
If returning it is not an option, I usually ask someone I know if they want it. If I have no takers, I donate it to a thrift store.

this is what I do. I normally ask if anyone wants in my family or friends. If not, then I donate.

Did she give you the gift for the novelty or does she expect you to cherish it forever?
If there's no chance of her ever asking about it, I'd donate it.
I'm having the same issue with a Precious Moments "Bride" figurine but I do think the giver will expect to see it at my house one day.

DH's aunt has been the giver of many gifts that make us go .. .....the most "interesting" was a 3 foot Santa dressed as Uncle Sam
This and many of her gifts over the last 4 years have been patriotically themed as we were married on 4th of July......
What do I do with them? Quite a lot of the things she (and MIL for that matter) has given us are right now in boxes ready to be ebayed soon!!
