Re: Took the plunge last night! question for Redstar
Michelle - you are always well informed on these topics - and I value the advice you give on this site. are you a doctor?
Some questions for you: having been uncareful last night, and I'm supposed to be O'ing this coming weekend and early next week, is there a chance I could be PG? does the sperm live for several days up there? and if I was PG, when would the symptoms appear? I'm not too informed as you can tell :)

Re: Took the plunge last night!
I am far from a doctor. I am currently on a leave of absence from my nyc elementary ed teaching job.
If you haven't ovulated yet you can't be pregnant. You conceive the day you ovulate and the sperm fertilizes the egg. Sperm can live in the right environment for a few days. Some people say 5, some people say about 2. The chances of you conceiving by bding yesterday and not Oing until let's say ..saturday would be miraculous. I would keep the bding going...well into the weekend.
Pregnancy symptoms can start quickly. You may feel some heaviness in your uterus about 3 dpo ....you can start getting morning sickness after 7 dpo but that's rare. Usually some cramping around 7dpo....can happen as well. Breasts can be extra sore early on too.
Basically pregnancy symptoms are very similiar to AF symptoms. They also can be caused by the elevated progesterone levels. So my advice, is to not read into any sort of symptom. Most women who are pregnant don't even realize it.

Re: Took the plunge last night!
thanks for the advice redstar :)
but I'm worried now that the sperm will live "up there" for a few days and find an egg on friday or Saturday when my ovulating starts. Reflecting on my actions of last night, I'm not really ready to take the BIG LEAP.

Re: Took the plunge last night!
Guess I was living in the moment when I let DH "let loose" and the next day, I thought, "maybe I'm not ready for that after all". I keep changing my mind - one day ready, the other day, not.
comment from mom last night...."get off whatever birth control you're on and get on it already". this coming from a woman who freaked when she saw my tatoo years ago :)
