We are looking for a home in Northport/East Northport.
DH and I have a co-op right now. We want to buy a home in the Northport or Harborfields School Districts. We would be comfortable spending up to $600k. I would prefer less than that so we can make any cosmetic changes we want to. Can you please keep your eyes open for me?

There are a ton for sale in the area. Also a lot of FSBO. Would you have time to drive around today? There are open house signs on practically every corner.
What type of house are you looking for?
Features, needs?
I'd drive around because there are so many FSBO that are not on mls.

I agree with Theresa....When I go visit my parents house who live in E. Npt...I have seen so many houses up for sale.

Dh and I are going to a couple of open houses today. Afterwards, we will definitely drive around a bit. I have been so afraid of house hunting because so many people talk about how bad prices are. Does everything sell for asking price still?
We are looking for a home with a minimum of 3 bedrooms(preferably 4), 1.5 baths(preferably 2). We like a house that has a lot of light coming in to it. I do not want anything dark. We want a separate dining room from the kitchen. I don't car if the kitchen or bathrooms need to be updated. That can be done in time.
The biggest thing really is the property size. I would like something big enough to one day put a pool in and have room to walk on the grass. I guess at least 1/4 of an acre.

a bunch of homes in the area that have been on the market for awhile have lowered the price in the past week or so...
there is a home in the bellcrest section on half an acre....

If you look on line there are many homes with pools. When we were looking it seems as if 90% of the houses that were trade-up houses/colonials/4 bedrooms/ 2.5 baths had pools. It was frustrating for me because I never want a pool.
Have you looked on-line?
Any luck today? Did you see any FBSO?
Houses still do go for asking price, IF they are priced right to begin with to reflect the house/location in this CURRENT market. That being said there are way too many sellers out there, some with no plans on moving who just have their house on the market to see how much they can get and have no intentions of accepting anything than their inflated full-asking price. They are still living in 2003 when my friend didn't even put her FSBO sign in the ground and someone pulled up to her property, asked how much, offered $20K more than asking and they were in contract within 24 hours Most sellers have to realize those days are long gone and not soon to return. At the same time, if a house is priced right and is in great condition, in a desirable area buyers still need to be ready to move on their offer. It's rare but there are cases of multiple offers on houses.
