nursing bras?

I wanted to start picking up nursing bras and my nursing nightgown so I can pack my hospital bag. I'm not due until October 9th but I'm getting anxious and the baby is weighing in BIG so they are expecting me to go somewhat early.

My question is, how do you know what size you'll be once you're nursing in bras? I'm already a 46DD, and a lot of places don't carry bras that big or even bigger then that. I have a feeling it's going to be hard for me to find something that'll fit, and I'm sure I'll need something bigger, but how much bigger?

Re: nursing bras?

just get the same size you are now- its alot of up and down with the nursing- when the breast are full they of course are little tight but as soon as you nurse the boob softens so they go back to the same size you were when preggo.

Re: nursing bras?

I called my mom tonight to ask her about nursing bras because she was a le leche league leader for like 30 years, and she said they always recommend that at around 7-8 months pregnant, you buy your nursing bra to be big enough to fit two fingers in the side of the cup. she said that'll give you enough "room to grow" once your milk supply comes in.

Re: nursing bras?

I just bought some nurisng bras from Maternity Works in the Source Mall. They had a section for large sizes too. You should call and see if they carry your size.

Re: nursing bras?

I just wanted to pass on the info.

I went to Georgette's today in Hicksville. They were so friendly and very helpful. Two women helped me. They measured me and had me try on a few sizes to find the one that fit me best. Turns out I am not even the same size I thought I was, and so they set me up with a bra that will fit me even after my milk comes in, a nursing bra. They ordered 2 more because they only had one in stock in my size.

I would definately recommend that people go and get fitted at a special bra store if you are planning on nursing. I feel so much better because I was trying on nursing bras in other stores and they just weren't good quality and weren't supportive.

If anyone wants more info on how much it was and stuff, FM me.

-Melissa
