Teachers- what, if anything, are you doing to commemorate the 9/11 anniversary?
I know my school will have a moment of silence, as we've had every year, but I don't know what to do, if anything, beyond that. I feel a bit unsure.

We will be celebrating Patriot Day with an assembly (flag raising, moment of silence, songs etc.) We will also be honoring local firefighters for their heroism. I read during the week: "I am America" "September 12th" "The Man Who Walked Between the Towers", "9/11: A Book of Help", "It's Still a Dog's NY" and "The Little Chapel That Stood" and put out my Flag Day/Patriotic books.

I'm teaching a class of college freshman from 7-8 pm. Our university is having a prayer service in the morning and a candle light vigil at 9 PM.
I don't know if I'm going to touch on it much more than just doing a moment of silence and encouraging the students to go to the candle light vigil after class is over, as well as reminding them of the resources available on campus if they wanted to talk about it with a professional counselor.

Well I teach first grade, so most of them are not aware of what happened. But my kids are making an American Flag project on Monday with a writing activity "I love living in America because"...

I teach first grade and the school does their memorial service at the flag in front with a moment of silence. I will also be reading this book September 12th this is an EXCELLENT book for all children to understand the concept of Sept 11th and the aftermath. I will be reading this book and the children will make flags and carry them out as they leave school that day.

I don't think we are doing anything....I was never told to say anything about it...I'm in a new school so I don't want to be spoken to for bringing it up

Did n't think we were doing anything and then we had a moment of silence and then we were asked to talk to the class about it....I start to get choked up so I had to make it really brief because I felt myself starting to get teary
The kids I have were only 3 when it happened so I had to explain it....it made me really upset
