a little disappointed about my shower
I knew since it was summer that some people would be away for my shower, so I made it a point to get the invitations out really early. Turns out that out of about 80 or so invites, only 48 people are attending.  I know to many of you 48 may seem like a lot of people, but it's really barely over 50% of the people we invited.

The same thing is happening to me. I also knew that I might have people not being able to make it because it's a busy time (8/26) so I told many people the date a very long time ago (JUNE!!) and some of them still can't come because something "came up." I understand how you feel. My issue is that I moved out of state and I won't be able to see these people again for a long time because I'm not sure when I'll be able to or want to fly with a baby.
I sympathize with you. I hope you have an excellent time at the shower anyway.

I'm sorry Nicole!  I know it's disappointing, but like Dawn previously mentioned it gives you more time to spend with the people who are able to attend. I'm sure it will be an amazing day regardless!!!
When is your shower? My shower is 9/17 and the invites haven't gone out yet. I'm starting to get worried that my mom is waiting too long.

I would def get them out soon! My sis sent mine out Aug 2nd. So far we've gotten 3 "no"s that we weren't expecting. Its such a hard time of year!!!

Do you when she's planning on sending them out? That was part of my problem. My sister was in charge & I thought she waited too long (they went out around 7/18 for 8/26 shower - I thought that people needed more notice since it was a busy time). I think a month ahead of time should be ok for yours, but I wouldn't cut it any closer.

You should be ok since it's no longer summer and not many people will be vacationing.
My shower is next Sunday (Aug. 20) and I think I sent out the invitations like the first week of July.
I just kind of feel slightly unimportant. This is my first baby, so to me it's the most important, exciting, amazing thing in the world. I just feel like other people just aren't as excited as I thought they would be.

I totally understand!!! I know it's easier said than done but try not to take it too personally. I'm sure they wish they could be in 2 places at once.

I don't think it matters when you send them out, its more that your shower is taking place during prime vacation time..ppl make plans months and months in advance.
Cheer-up, you'll have a great time,so much to look foward to,so much to celebrate.

I know how you feel. My shower was 7/29. My mom flipped when I gave her my list of over 100 people.....but lo and behold, we had about 50 show up. I knew that the summer would be like that, which is why I told her to relax about the invite list.
I'm not sure when your due....but trust me, opening gifts from 50 is exhausting. You barely have time to sit and chat with everyone as it is. Imagine if all 80 showed? You'll have a wonderful time, I'm sure!!! Don't stress and just enjoy your day!!!

I was going to say the same thing. If you had 80 people you would spend the whole thing opening gifts and when you are in the third trimester this is not an easy task!! You will still have such a wonderful time

that's a lot of people. I had 30 people and thought it was a lot. I got so much stuff, it was overwhelming how generous people were. 80 people-that would take 90 years to open all the presents!

You will still have a good time and I agree that it will be more time for you to spend with people. I had 40 people at my shower and let me tell you I was exhausted by the end after opening all he gifts and I couldn't bend that much, I was 34 weeks at my shower.

my shower is oct 22 and my mom is ordering the invites now. ( I didnt want a surprise) she will have them out she said in 2 1/2 weeks, I hope thats enough time for rsvp.
and dont worry you have plenty of people going to your shower, you will have a great time. My mom invited 60 so we will see how many actually show up.

I think I had 24 people at my shower. I got a lot of gifts though and I don't really like big things .... I was glad that it was something small.
