Refusing the bottle...
Sidney is BF and has been refusing the bottle for about 2 months now. (which she used to take just fine) Whenever I go to work she will only eat solids or whatever milk/water my aunt can spoon into her mouth (and all over her clothes) I've tried 3 different level nipples and a wide neck bottle/nipple. She is 8.5 months old so I have been giving her a sippy cup to play with but she just gnaws on the spout. Occasionally she gets the liquid but she makes a face and stops. Tonight I poured milk into a plastic cup and slowly poured it into her mouth. She basically lapped it like a kitten but it seemed to work. She got real excited about it and kept trying to grab the cup. Should I just give up on the bottle and go with this method? Or any other suggestions? I stress so much when I am at work and always end up leaving early to make sure she gets fed.
TIA

Re: Refusing the bottle...
I don't have any answers but my friend is going through the same problem with her 1 year old. She has been refusing the bottle for months, refuses the sippy cup too and my friend is dying to wean her. I hope you figure out what works.

Yah....that was gonna be my next question. I can't imagine how I am going to wean her. I was hoping to start at about 1 year.

Re: Refusing the bottle...
I have a friend who never gave her baby a bottle but used a little cup called a Doidy (try googling it)
Or might this help? [L=http://www.adiri.com/main/index.php]adiri

Re: Refusing the bottle...
When my mom babysat this little girl she wouldn't take the bottle either so she went to the sippy cup and it worked... So go for it if its working..

Re: Refusing the bottle...
That is not uncommon. She is just letting you know that she has a preference. Plus it is a totally different type of suckiling for a bottle and she probably just likes the breast type better. Try different sippy cups. Molly only liked ONE, out of the 8 I had tried. To this day, she still likes only the same ONE brand, and her straw cups now. The spoon method might just be what she wants while you are away
